Here is a run down of May events:

Open House Ice Cream Social, Monday, May 6th, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

You won’t want to miss being here on Monday evening, May 6th, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. for our annual OPEN HOUSE ICE CREAM SOCIAL.  It’s going to be a blast with Mr. Scott the Music Man performing, The Fun Bus, and Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundaes, the whole family is in for an awesome evening!  There is no RSVP form to complete for this event, just come and have fun.  Children, parents, and siblings of all ages are all invited.  It is an open house, so bring your friends, too!

Come out to Lucky Leo’s in Seaside Heights, for a special Fundraiser they are holding for Peppermint Tree, Saturday, May 11th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

We are so appreciative that our friends at Lucky Leo’s are holding a special Fundraiser for Peppermint Tree on Saturday, May 11th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Please come and play, to help raise money for our Chick Hatching event and for new playground materials.  They are offering half price cranes to our guests.  Please be sure to identify yourself at the redemption center – that you are there to support Peppermint Tree.  Just load money on a play card, and a portion of the money spent playing on those cards will go to support Peppermint Tree.  Thank you for your support!

Come to our Family Gardening Party! All families are invited to help us launch our Spring Vegetable Gardens, Thursday, May 16th, at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Each classroom has it’s own raised garden bed, adjacent to the pool, where we will be  planting vegetables.  We invite our families to join us to get the planting started, at our “Family Gardening Party”, Thursday, May 16th, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  We will plant, and celebrate with some healthy snacks on the playground.  (Rain date will be May 17th).  Children who do not regularly attend on the day of the party are welcome to attend!  Please complete and return the RSVP form being sent home, or email the office at

What came first, the chicken or the egg?  Chick Hatching Event starting May 20th!

On Tuesday, May 29th, we will begin our Chick Hatching event right here on-site at Peppermint Tree.   The farmer will be coming with adult chickens to show the children and to explain all about eggs, chicks and the hatching we will be witnessing over the next week and a half.  The farmer leaves us with 12 eggs in an incubator…then the children will see the eggs hatch and the baby chicks entering the world right before their eyes!  A most exciting experience!  Please plan to stop in during this time to see our chicks!

June events:

Mrs. Sullivan’s and Mrs. Diver’s Pre-K Field Trip to see the musical play, “Magic School Bus”, Monday, June 3rd

Our Pre-K children have a field trip coming up:  They will be travelling by school bus to Ocean County College Grunin Center to see the play, “Magic School Bus”, by the nationally renowned TheatreWorks theatre company.  Please get your permission slips and payments in, if you have not yet done so! For those attending:  Please be at Peppermint Tree by 10:00 a.m. to get on the bus.  Bus will return by 1:00 p.m.   Even if your child does not usually attend on a Monday, they are welcome to attend the field trip.  Family chaperones are welcome on a space available basis.  How exciting!

Mrs. Sullivan’s and Mrs. Diver’s Pre-K End of Year Ceremony-Save the date: Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the Toms River Elks

Our Pre-K End of Year ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11th at the Elks Lodge on Washington Street, at 10:00 a.m.   More information will be sent home to Pre-K parents in the coming weeks.  (NOTE to Pre-K parents:  June’s school tuition payment must be made in advance of your child’s “end of year event”, in order for your child to participate.  Your school tuition balance must be at zero in order for your child to participate in the event. )

The last day of school will be Thursday, June 20th.   (The same day as Toms River Public Schools.) If you have not registered for Summer Camp, then your child’s last day for the school year will be Thursday, June 20th (or before if your child does not attend on a Thursday).  As you may recall, we built in 3 snow days to the school year (as did Toms River public schools), and only 1 snow day was used, so now the last day of school has been moved back to Thursday 6/20. (It was tentatively set for Monday 6/24).  Full time tuition for the Toms River Schools calendar includes 180 school days, and for Peppermint Tree calendar includes 198 school days.

Friday, June 21st is now a “Mini-Camp” day, and is available as an extra day, for those who need child care.  This will be a fun “pre-camp” day… the pools will not yet be open.  6/21 is not included in camp or school tuition, and must be signed up for and paid for separately.   Please notify the office if you would like your child to attend on Friday, June 21st.

Our first day of Session #1 of Summer Camp is Monday, June 24th, 2019.  That is when the pools will be open and the full Summer Camp activity schedule begins.  Camp is just about completely full, so if you have not yet registered, and had hoped to attend camp, please call the office to see if there is room in your child’s age group for the schedule you need.

Registrations are flowing in from the general public for the Fall 2019 school program, as well. There is limited room left also, for School, so please register quickly. And, remember that enrollment in summer camp does not automatically guarantee a space in the Fall program (or vice versa). You must register your child separately for each session to reserve your space in our program.

Parent Reminder about June Payment

As a reminder, our school year tuition is annual, broken up into ten equal monthly payments (September through June).  So, please remember that on June 1st, you still pay a full school payment, even though school ends on June 20th.  You have benefited from this when there were five weeks in a month and your tuition did not go up.  This allows both you and the school to budget an even amount each month for tuition.  Any students not returning will have their security deposit subtracted from their their June bill.  Quarter Day students were required to prepay the June payment, so there will be no payment due in June if you prepaid it.

Those continuing with us for camp have their Session 1 payment and camp activities payment also due on June 1st.   (Camp paperwork and activities packets are going out within the next week) As always, we allow a 15 day grace period for the camp tuition, so there are no late fees until after June 15th.  If you have any questions, please call the office at 732-929-2500.

Some families choose to start making payments for camp ahead of time, so when June 1st comes there is not such a burden for them.  Please take advantage of this if you foresee a problem with the extra payment due June 1st.

REMINDER; Free Hearing and Speech/Language Ability Screening Offered  – Friday, May 3rd, 9:30 a.m.

On Friday, May 3rd, we will have a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist from Children’s Specialized Hospital here at Peppermint Tree, beginning at 9:30 a.m. to perform Hearing and Speech /Language ability assessments.  A permission slip was sent home.  We ask that all families return it to let us know whether or not you want the screening, that way we know you have seen it and considered this opportunity.  If your child does not attend on a Friday, you are welcome to bring your child in for the assessment.

Closed for Memorial Day, May 27th, 2018

The Peppermint Tree will be closed for all students and staff on Monday, May 27th, 2019 in observance of Memorial day.
