Dear Families,

Time flies when you’re having fun!  Where has this school year gone to?  When I reflect on all the wonderful classroom experiences, visitors, and family events – it seems we have really done a lot!  But, boy did it go by in a flash, and here we are in June.  I want to thank each family for sharing your child with us this year.  The children have grown and flourished, and we have enjoyed every minute we have shared with them!

THANK YOU, FAMILIES!

As you can see, we do not let up…read on to find out all the activities happening in June!  Have a great month!

Sincerely,

Miss Val

PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE END OF SCHOOL AND BEGINNING OF CAMP:

  • The last day of school is Thursday, June 20th.
  • Summer Camp, and Summer Hours of 7:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. start on Monday, June 24th.
  • Friday June 21st is “Mini-Camp”- and not included in school or camp tuition – it is an extra day–please sign up for it if your child will attend.
  • Sign up for Friday, 6/21 “Mini Camp” today by calling the office or emailing val@pepperminttree.com.  Friday June 14th is deadline to sign up for June 21st, so we can prepare for number of children attending.

If you have not registered for our Summer Camp program, then Thursday, 6/20 will be your child’s last day of school (or if they don’t attend on a Thursday, their last day will be whatever day of the week is their last day, earlier that week).  Summer Camp begins on Monday 6/24.  As a reminder, our hours of operation are slightly shorter in the Summer.  We are open 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Summer.  Summer hours begin on 6/24/19.

As a reminder, like Toms River Public Schools, we had built three snow days into the school calendar, but we only used one snow day this year. That is why we ended up with Thursday, 6/20/19 as the last day of school.  “Toms River Schools calendar” tuition is based on 180 school days, and our “Peppermint Tree calendar”, covers 198 total days, which includes school and holiday care.  So, Friday, June 21st is NOT included in either the school tuition or your camp tuition, but we will be open.  This is an extra day, that we call “mini-camp”.  It is a recreational, pre-camp day.  The swimming pools will not yet be open.  You MUST sign up for your child to attend on Friday, 6/21/19, and the day will be charged as an extra day.

Pre-K Field Trip to see a live theater performance of “The Magic School Bus” at OCC’s Grunin Center, Monday, June 3, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Students attending the field trip and parent chaperones must be at the school by 10:00 a.m.  This trip is for Mrs. Sullivan’s and Mrs Diver’s classes only.  This is just a reminder.   Permission slips and payments are already in, and all tickets are sold.  We have no tickets left for last minute additions.

Mrs. Sullivan’s and Mrs. Diver’s Pre-K End of Year Ceremony- Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the Toms River Elks

Our Pre-K End of Year ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11th at the Elks Lodge on Washington Street, at 10:00 a.m.    This is an exciting day, and definitely a photo opportunity.  Families are invited!  Classes will continue for the children through 6/20/19.  (NOTE to Pre-K parents:  June’s school tuition payment must be made in advance of your child’s “end of year event”, in order for your child to participate.  Your school tuition balance must be at zero in order for your child to participate in the event.)  This celebration is for ALL PRE-K students in Mrs. Diver’s and Mrs. Sullivan’s classes…even those who are moving on to Mrs. Sullivan’s class for a second year of Pre-K, because they miss the October 1st cut off for Kindergarten.

Wednesday and Thursday, June 12th and 13th, a REAL Toms River School BUS will be visiting for our Pre-K students!

A school bus driver from Toms River Schools will be giving the Pre-K students a bus safety presentation, and they are bringing a REAL BUS for the children to practice getting on and off, and fastening their seat belts.  If your child is moving on to Kindergarten in the Fall, and does not attend on a Wednesday or Thursday, you may bring them in at 9:30 a.m. on 6/12 or 6/13 to participate.

Take a look at our classroom gardens!  They are GROWING!  Are you able to help water on the weekends?

Our gardens are flourishing under the loving care of Mrs. Hamilton, all the students and staff.  We also have families volunteering to come on the weekends to water the gardens.  Are you willing and able to help do weekend garden watering?  Please let us know and we will get you into the schedule.  Thank you!

Parent Reminder about June Payment

As a reminder, our tuition is annual, broken up into ten equal monthly payments (September through June).  So, please remember that on June 1st, you still pay a full school payment, even though school ends on June 20th.  You have benefited from this when there were five weeks in a month and your tuition did not go up.  This allows both you and the school to budget an even amount each month for tuition.  Any students not returning will have their security deposit subtracted from their June bill.  Quarter Day students were required to prepay the June payment, so there will be no payment due in June if you prepaid it.  Please see your email for your statement, as statements were emailed to all families during the last week of May.

Those continuing with us for camp have their Session 1 payment and camp activities payment also due on June 1st.   As always, we allow a 15 day grace period for the camp tuition, so there are no late fees until after June 15th.  If you have any questions, please call the office at 732-929-2500.  Camp activities fill quickly, so make sure you have your sign ups in!  T-shirts are being ordered on 6/3, so your order MUST be in. (T-shirts are optional, and if your child does not have one, we will loan them one if they are attending a field trip.)

$25.00 Referral Tuition Credit – for each family you refer to Peppermint Tree (once they register)

Is your family enjoying all of The Peppermint Tree activities?  Is your child benefiting from the loving care and enriching education we offer?  If so, please spread the word about Peppermint Tree!  We will reward you, if you do!

“Word of Mouth” is our best form of advertising!  And, we truly appreciate your spreading the word about Peppermint Tree to your friends, family and neighbors.  We offer all of our current families a tuition credit of $25.00 for each new family you refer to Peppermint Tree.  Once they pay their registration fee, we credit your account $25.00.  There is no limit to the number of credits you can earn!
