IT IS TIME… to register now for the 2019 – 2020 school year, and for Summer Camp 2019. We are accepting registrations for both programs NOW!
Registrations for the 2019-2020 School Year and Summer Camp 2019 are now flowing into the office from current families and we have now opened registration to the public for both programs. Now that we have opened registration to the public, we can no longer guarantee your child a place for camp or school next Fall until we receive your registration and fee. It is first come first serve, and space is limited.
Please fill out your child’s registration form either on paper & hand in to your child’s teacher, or on-line at our website: https://www.pepperminttree.com/registration/, and send in the $125.00 family registration fee for school and $75 for camp as soon as possible if you would like to reserve a spot for your child at Peppermint Tree next Fall and/or camp.
As always, if you have any questions about the programs we are offering, please call (732) 929-2500.
Valerie Frost-Lewis, MS Ed.

A Note about Valentines at Peppermint Tree
Your teacher may send out a separate notice about special activities in each classroom, however, as a rule, at Peppermint Tree we would like to ask: If you are sending in Valentines cards or treats for children in your child’s class-please do not address them to any specific child. They can certainly say who it is “From” -but please leave the “To” field (and the outside of the envelope) blank. This will make them easier to distribute, and we can assure no child is left out. Thanks! We would also like to remind you that we are working hard to teach the children about healthy eating, so we encourage you to send in only nutritious treats (or non-food surprises), if you choose to send in something for Valentine’s Day.

Toms River School Holiday in February: Monday, February 18th (President’s Day)
Just a reminder that we do not hold our regular classes when Toms River Schools are closed, however we do provide child care. Those children who follow the Toms River Schools calendar with us are not expected to attend on these days. However, if you need care, you may arrange with the office to add 2/18 to your child’s schedule on a space available basis. Those children who follow our full Peppermint Tree Calendar will be on our list to attend on 2/18, if they attend on Mondays, so no need to arrange in advance for those families.

Peppermint Tree is a proud of our 4-star rating in the state’s Grow NJ Kids Quality Rating and Improvement System!
We were awarded this distinction last year, but I wanted to remind our families about it. The extensive rating process is a confirmation that we are offering the very best early care and education to our families. From curriculum to health and safety to procedures, classroom materials and teacher qualifications – all has been closely examined based on high quality standards. We prepared for three years, and our quality improvement process is an ongoing effort – giving you, our families, the assurance that your child is experiencing a high quality early education foundation in a nurturing and engaging environment.
Winter Weather Reminder
If the Toms River schools are closed due to snow, our children who follow the TR calendar DO NOT HAVE SCHOOL. We will announce our delays and closings on our website www.pepperminttree.com, via email and text, our phone message, and on njstormwatch.com (which is a service of WOBM and other media outlets.)
If Toms River Schools have a delayed opening or are closed, we will automatically have an 8:30 opening at the earliest (and not 7:00 a.m.). This will allow the street plowing and sanding to occur before our staff and families hit the road for the morning. This will also give us time to assess the weather and road conditions to determine if we can open or if we will have to close for the day.
Boxtops for Education
Boxtops for Education: Please keep collecting and turning in to your child’s teacher the pink “Box Tops for Education” from grocery items. The funds raised from this simple activity helps us buy extra books and other items needed for the children! Thank you to Kristen Bernstein for managing our BoxTops program.
- Sign your child in and out: If you come in to drop off or pick up your child, PLEASE sign your child in and out each day. The state requires our accurate records for attendance and drop off and pick up timing, and this is also for your child’s protection that we have an accurate system knowing when they are dropped off and picked up. THANK YOU! (This does not apply to parents who drop off and pick up on “the line”).
- Label all pieces of clothing, backpacks and lunch boxes.
- Please be sure your child has a warm coat, mittens and a hat so they stay warm while we play outdoors. We play outside as long as it is not precipitating and the temperature is 32 degrees or higher.
- Afternoon Snack: Many full day children come to the end of the day and find they have nothing left in their lunch box by the 2:00 p.m. snack time, and the 5;00 p.m. snack time. (4:00 p.m. for school aged children). Please send in a labeled snack meant for the afternoon, or two afternoon snacks if your child is here after 5:00 p.m. Label it “Afternoon Snack”. Please remember that a healthy snack includes two food groups, so whole grain crackers and peanut butter, or apple slices and cheese, for example would constitute a healthy and complete snack.
