Time flies when you’re having fun! Where has this school year gone to? When I reflect on all the wonderful classroom experiences, visitors, and family events – it seems we have really done a lot! But, boy did it go by in a flash, and here we are in June. I want to thank each family for sharing your child with us this year. The children have grown and flourished, and we have enjoyed every minute we have shared with them!
THANK YOU, FAMILIES!
As you can see, we do not let up…read on to find out all the activities happening in June! Have a great month!
Valerie Frost-Lewis, MS Ed.
The last day of school is Friday, June 22nd. Summer Camp, and Summer Hours of 7:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. start on Monday, June 25th
If you have not registered for our Summer Camp program, then 6/22 will be your child’s last day of school (or if they don’t attend on a Friday, their last day will be whatever day of the week is their last day that week). Summer Camp begins on Monday 6/25. As a reminder, our hours of operation are slightly shorter in the Summer. We are open 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Summer. Summer hours begin on 6/25/18.
What came first, the chicken or the egg? Our Chick hatching event is underway!
The farmer dropped off eggs and an incubator to us this week for our annual Chick Hatching event right here on-site at Peppermint Tree. The farmer left us with 12 eggs in an incubator…then the children will see the eggs hatch and the baby chicks entering the world right before their eyes! We expect the chicks to start hatching on Monday, 6/4/18. A most exciting experience! Please plan to stop in during this time to see our chicks!
Final Parent Group Meeting of the School Year – Tuesday, June 5th, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Please join us as to celebrate our successes in bringing wonderful family activities to our community. We would also like to discuss new ideas from families to consider for next year. All are welcome–even if you have never attended one of our meetings in the past. Child care is provided free of charge during the meeting. Please let Miss Val know if you will be attending.
Wednesday and Thursday, June 6th and 7th, a REAL Toms River School BUS will be visiting for our Pre-K students!
A school bus driver from Toms River Schools will be giving the Pre-K students a bus safety presentation, and they are bringing a REAL BUS for the children to practice getting on and off, and fastening their seat belts. If your child is moving on to Kindergarten in the Fall, and does not attend on a Wednesday or Thursday, you may bring them in at 10:00 a.m. on 6/6 or 6/7 to participate.
Mrs. Sullivan’s and Mrs. Diver’s Pre-K End of Year Ceremony- Tuesday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Toms River Elks
Our Pre-K End of Year ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 12th at the Elks Lodge on Washington Street, at 10:00 a.m. This is an exciting day, and definitely a photo opportunity. Families are invited! Classes will continue for the children through 6/22/18. (NOTE to Pre-K parents: June’s school tuition payment must be made in advance of your child’s “end of year event”, in order for your child to participate. Your school tuition balance must be at zero in order for your child to participate in the event.)
Take a look at our classroom gardens! They are GROWING! Are you able to help water on the weekends?
Our gardens are flourishing under the loving care of Mrs. Hamilton, all the students and staff. We also have families volunteering to come on the weekends to water the gardens. Are you willing and able to help do weekend garden watering? Please let us know and we will get you into the schedule. Thank you!
Parent Reminder about June Payment
As a reminder, our tuition is annual, broken up into ten equal monthly payments (September through June). So, please remember that on June 1st, you still pay a full school payment, even though school ends on June 22nd. You have benefited from this when there were five weeks in a month and your tuition did not go up. This allows both you and the school to budget an even amount each month for tuition. Any students not returning will have their security deposit subtracted from their June bill. Quarter Day students were required to prepay the June payment, so there will be no payment due in June if you prepaid it.
Those continuing with us for camp have their Session 1 payment and camp activities payment also due on June 1st. As always, we allow a 15 day grace period for the camp tuition, so there are no late fees until after June 15th. If you have any questions, please call the office at 732-929-2500.
