April Newsletter

April 1st, 2017 No Comments

Dear Parents,

April is here and we are “Springing” into action at The Peppermint Tree, both in the classrooms, and in our community!  We are participating in “The Budding Artists” art show at The Ocean County Library, Toms River Branch which will be on display all month.  We will be putting up the last few pieces of art during the first week of the month, and will send a note home to let you know if your child’s art is hanging in the show.

Our staff will also be participating in the STEAM Into School Readiness event, Saturday, April 29th, 9:30 – 12:00 p.m. at Hooper Avenue Elementary School, Toms River.  We hope you can attend:  This is a FREE family event that includes FREE breakfast at 9:30 a.m., and then the event begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. with a brief video for families then a fun STEAM activity (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) to do together.  Mr. Scott the Music Man will be performing for the kids, and the parents will get information on School Readiness.  It will be a GREAT morning!  RSVP to the email address: schoolready429@gmail.com to get extra door prize tickets!

Also—mark your calendars…we are planning a “Family Planting Party”on Thursday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m. to launch our spring gardens.  More details to follow.

We hope your family can join us for these wonderful family fun opportunities!

Sincerely, Valerie Frost-Lewis, MS.Ed. Owner/Director

Special Snack Request for the week of April 3rd

The children will be having fun during the week of April 3rd,  dying eggs and having egg hunts.  We would like to offer a special morning snack each day that week.  We are asking families to send in a healthy/nutritious snack to share with the class. If everyone brings in enough for a few children, we will be able to offer variety to all.  Thank you!  Here are some suggestions:

  • Individual applesauce or fruit cups (mandarin oranges, fruit salad, pears, etc. in juice)
  • Graham crackers
  • Whole grain goldfish
  • Diced fresh fruit
  • Veggies cut small
  • Cheese cubes or cheese sticks

Soccer Shots is returning to Peppermint Tree for a Spring Soccer Session –Don’t forget to sign your child up!  Go to the web link below and click on “Enroll at a Site”.  First Class is Thursday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m.

This is an optional activity (Thursdays at 2:00 p.m.) you may choose to sign your child up for.  Many children have enjoyed this class over the years: children learn soccer skills, as well as a lesson on character during each class.  The classes offer a fun, non-competitive atmosphere.  Classes are taught outdoors by a soccer coach from “Soccer Shots” on The Peppermint Tree grounds.     For more information and to register for Soccer Shots, go to:
