Dear Parents

“Time flies when you’re having fun!” And, what a fast year it’s been here at The Peppermint Tree. We hope you and your child have enjoyed our program, and that we will be seeing you in Summer Camp and/or in the Fall.

I want to take this opportunity to thank our entire Peppermint Tree community – our families and our staff for making this a wonderful year for the children. The smiles on their faces as they burst out onto the playground each day tells the story of their year at The Peppermint Tree the best. They’ve had fun as they’ve grown…from learning their colors, letters and numbers, (and our Kindergartners are reading!) to learning how to make friends and respect the adults in their lives. We thank you for sharing your children with us, and wish you a wonderful Summer.

Valerie Frost-Lewis, MS Ed.

Tuition Reminder

If your child is attending summer camp, your final school tuition payment,  your Session 1 camp payment and Camp activity payment are now due.

Please note:  If your child is in Kindergarten or Pre-K, you must have a zero balance on your school tuition for your child to participate in the end of school programs.  So, for Kindergarten, your final school payment must be made no later than June 10th.  And, for Pre-K, you still have until the usual 15th of the month grace period, as the Graduation is on the 16th.  Thanks.

No sandals on the playground, please!

Sneakers are needed to climb on the aparatus, and we want the children to be able to take full advantage of the equipment when they go out to the playground.

School Bus Presentation by Toms River Schools

A Toms River School Bus driver will be visiting on both Wed. and Thurs. mornings,  June 3 and 4,  to provide our Pre-K and Full Day Kindergarten children a bus safety lesson and practice on a real school bus!

The Fun Bus

The Fun Bus was here today, June 2 for a “drop in” session, and they will be back one more time, next Tuesday morning, June 9th for a final school year session.  Please be sure to send in $10.00 if you would like your child to participate.  We also need your signed permission either in a note or on the sign up sheet in your child’s classroom.

Early Learners Family Pizza Party

Mrs. Foley’s class is inviting parents of the Early Learners class to come in for an end of school year pizza party on Thursday, June 11th, 11:00 a.m. – noon.  If your child is in her class, please let Mrs. Foley know if you can attend.

Tour of East Dover Elementary School  for our Full Day Kindergarten Students

Mrs. Sullivan and Miss Val will be bringing the Full Day Kindergarten children to East Dover Elementary school on June 12th at 10:00 a.m. for a tour, graciously provided by Mr. Gray the school principal.  They will get to peek in to the 1st grade classrooms, see the lunch room, and gym, and get a feel for what a “big school” is like, to get them ready for next year.

A few “Thank You’s” are due…

We have had some great “Strengthening Families Initiative” events in 2014-2015, ending with our very fun and well attended Ice Cream Social last month. Our tireless parent volunteers have taken time out of their busy schedules to help with these events, and I wanted to make sure I thank them properly for all of their hard work and dedication in attending meetings to plan events, and setting up and cleaning up after each event. Our parent volunteers are (Not in any particular order, hope I did not leave any one out!):  Joanne Engo, Karen Donohue, Megan Belegu, Kate Chambers, Amy Dennery, Vanessa DeLeon, Lisa Wacha, Kristine Perry. Roseatta Darcy, Shelley Kouretas, Jenny Thomas, and Shawn Shumbris and Karyn Widland.   And there were so many more families, all year long, who contributed to our events by sending in treats or needed supplies.

I would also like to thank those parents who sent in BoxTops and participated in the Square1 Art fundraiser.  We received $55.00 from BoxTops this Spring and $185.87 from Square1.  THANK YOU!  New playground items have been purchased (new balls, buckets, shovels, hulahoops) with the funds.

Thanks again to Joanne Engo for organizing the BoxTops For Education program for us.  KEEP  COLLECTING BOXTOPS ALL SUMMER!  We will continue the drive next school year.

Thank you to Helping Others Grow for our “Mindfulness” and Social Skills programs, our new “Mini Play Park”, our “Giving Gardens”, our iPads, and our new furniture and many more facility upgrades and materials.  They also provided us two parent workshops during the school year:  one on ADHD and one on Mindfulness.  What fabulous partners and supporters we have!

Thank you to everyone!!  Together, we all make The Peppermint Tree a warm and nurturing environment for the children.
